Trump announced China's readiness to open the market for goods from the United States

China is ready to "open the market" for American goods, the parties only need to agree on the details. This was announced on May 13 by US President Donald Trump, speaking at an investment forum in Saudi Arabia.
"We have achieved a breakthrough in negotiations with China — a great deal. China has agreed to open the market to the United States. It remains to agree on the details," he said in a speech that was broadcast on the White House's page on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
On May 12, Trump announced that the negotiations between China and the United States on trade differences in Geneva had been productive. He noted that the countries have achieved a complete reset of relations and agreed to reduce duties imposed after April 2 to 10% for 90 days.
Earlier in the day, the Xinhua news agency reported on the PRC's decision to suspend or cancel non-tariff countermeasures that were taken against the United States from April 2, 2025. It was clarified that Washington, in turn, plans to change additional customs duties on Chinese goods.
A high-level meeting between representatives of China and the United States on economic and trade issues took place on May 10 in Geneva. China was represented at the talks by Vice Premier He Lifeng, and the United States was represented by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessant.
