ISU has approved the applications of 22 Russians to participate in the selection for the 2026 Olympics

The International Skating Union (ISU) has approved applications for 22 Russian figure skaters, speed skaters and short track skaters to participate in the qualifying tournament for the 2026 Olympic Games. This was reported on the organization's website on May 13.

It is reported that among the skaters, Adelia Petrosyan, Alina Gorbacheva, Peter Gummenik and Vladislav Dikidzhi received admission. They will act in a neutral status.

The approved skaters and short-track skaters included Alexandra Sayutina, Anastasia Grigorieva, Anastasia Zheganova, Irina Salnikova, Ivan Posashkov, Ivan Fruit, Daniil Nikolaev, Ksenia Korzhova, Alice Becker, Anastasia Semenova, Peter Kotmakov, Illarion Saboldashev, Alyona Krylova, Anna Ovchinnikova, Elena Seregina, Anna Urazova, Anna Matveeva and Daniil Naydenyshev.

A similar decision was made at the request of six figure skaters and seven skaters from Belarus.

On April 9, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced that the organization is discussing with the winter sports federations the possibility of athletes from Russia and Belarus participating in the 2026 Olympic Games in Italy. It is specified that a decision was made on the participation of Russians and Belarusians in ski mountaineering, and it is also planned to resume participation in speed skating, figure skating and short track.
