Germany announced the US desire to resume gas supplies via Nord Stream 2

The US authorities support the resumption of Russian gas supplies via the Nord Stream 2 pipeline. The German newspaper Berliner Zeitung wrote about this on May 13.
According to the publication, American companies could acquire shares in both Nord Streams or buy Russian gas, then reselling it to Europe. Such a policy by Washington will lead to the return of Russian hydrocarbons to the European market and create a new profitable business area for the United States.
"The United States has been fighting Nord Stream 2 for a long time, and now it will trade Russian gas itself, and thus indirectly do what Europe has been accused of for many years," the article says.

Earlier, on April 25, Russian Ambassador to Germany Sergey Nechaev called the possible restoration of the Nord Stream and Nord Stream–2 pipelines a matter of the political will of the German and US authorities. According to Nechaev, there are many businessmen among the new American administration who know a lot about economics and can deal with a deal to restore Nord Streams.
Later, on May 12, the media reported that the cost of gas in European countries had increased amid threats from the leadership of the European Union (EU) to tighten sanctions against Russia. It is specified that futures of the Dutch TTF gas exchange rose by 3.5% to €35.83 per MWh.
