Netanyahu announced a large-scale offensive on Gaza to defeat Hamas

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said that the country's army will enter the Gaza Strip in the coming days to completely defeat the radical Palestinian movement Hamas. This was announced on May 13 by the press service of the Office of the head of government.
"The situation has changed. In the coming days, we will make every effort to complete the process. This means victory over Hamas. The goal is to destroy Hamas," Netanyahu said during a meeting with reservists.
According to him, the fighting will not stop until the goal is achieved. Even if the Palestinian movement releases ten hostages, the Israeli side will not stop, the Prime Minister stressed.
"We can conclude a truce for a certain time, but we will go to the end," Netanyahu concluded.
On May 5, the Israeli Military and Political Cabinet approved plans to expand operations in the Gaza Strip, which include the possibility of occupying the Palestinian enclave. The plan includes the occupation of Gaza, the denial of access to humanitarian aid to Hamas, and military strikes on the movement's infrastructure and positions.
The next day, Hamas declared that the expansion of the ground operation in Gaza was dangerous for the Israeli hostages. The movement's representatives appealed to the Arab countries and the international community to stop the aggression by Israel.
Earlier, on April 17, Hamas leader Khalil al-Haya declared his readiness for immediate negotiations with the Israeli side on a cease-fire and the release of hostages and Palestinian prisoners. At the same time, he called Tel Aviv's demands for the disarmament of radicals impossible.
