Terrorism case opened in Dagestan after attack on police officers


Investigators have opened a criminal case on the commission of terrorist crimes after an attack on police officers in the city of Makhachkala in the Republic of Dagestan. "Investigators of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Republic of Dagestan <...> have opened a criminal case on the grounds of crimes under Part 1 of Article 205.4 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Creation of a terrorist community and its leadership") and paragraph "b" of Part 3 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code ("Terrorist act")," the Telegram channel wrote. departments.
According to the investigation, no later than December 2024, two residents of the republic created a terrorist community in order to prepare and commit terrorist acts in the region. As part of the plan, on May 5, 2025, they attacked law enforcement officers in the capital of the republic.
It is clarified that the previously initiated criminal cases on the fact of an attack on traffic police officers have been combined into one production.
The shooting in Makhachkala took place on May 5. Later, the main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Dagestan reported on the elimination of two attackers. As a result of the incident, seven people were injured, two policemen were also killed, and two more were injured. Investigators have opened a criminal case on the fact of an attempt on the life of law enforcement officers.
On May 12, the Sovetsky District Court of Makhachkala arrested a man accused of assaulting traffic police officers. The suspect, born in 2000, will remain in custody until July 5.
