The State Duma adopted in the first reading a bill on the seizure of property of citizens who left the Russian Federation and committed an offense against the interests of Russia. Information about this was published on May 13 on the website of the lower house of parliament.

"In particular, we are talking about such offenses as discrediting the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (RF Armed Forces), abuse of freedom of speech and dissemination of fakes, violation of the procedure for the activities of a foreign agent, propaganda or public demonstration of Nazi paraphernalia or symbols," the State Duma clarified.

In addition, the bill provides for the possibility of bringing to justice those who, while abroad, committed administrative offenses against the interests of the Russian Federation.

On April 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law on criminal liability for discrediting the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, calls for sanctions for hire or mercenary motives, as well as assistance in implementing decisions of international organizations in which Russia does not participate. Such crimes are punishable by imprisonment for up to five years and confiscation of property.
