Former Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite, saying that Russia's nuclear weapons cannot frighten anyone, should contact the administration of French President Emmanuel Macron, where they will be happy to talk to her about nuclear umbrellas. This was announced on May 13 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

"Let her call the Elysee Palace, where they can keep her company on the topic of nuclear umbrellas," the diplomat told RIA Novosti.

On May 12, Lithuanian LRT television quoted Grybauskaite as saying that she urged not to pay attention to Russian nuclear weapons, as they are an "outdated type of weapon", and currently there are other, more dangerous threats.

On March 5, Macron announced that he intends to discuss the use of nuclear weapons in order to protect the entire European Union (EU). Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov called the French leader's statement about the Russian threat to Europe confrontational.

Nikolai Patrushev, Chairman of the Maritime Board and Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation, said on April 29 that Western countries, in the process of trying to maintain leadership on the world stage, do not exclude the risk of nuclear war. According to him, the West is not only deploying a military machine against Russia, but is also increasingly demonstrating an obsession with the scenario of a "nuclear apocalypse."
