An original festival of the Russian Cossacks will be held in the capital in September.

On September 13, the XI International Festival "Cossack Village Moscow" will be held in Moscow on the territory of the Kolomenskoye Museum-Reserve. The All-Russian Cossack Society will present its platform for the first time. A rich cultural and educational program and reconstruction of the Cossack camp during the military campaigns of the 19th century will be organized there.

On this day Kolomenskoye will come to life in the spirit of an ancient Cossack village. The guests of the festival will experience a real immersion in a lively, dynamic space and an exciting story about the Russian Cossacks. 12 interactive platforms will be deployed on the territory of the museum-reserve, where the history and traditions of the Cossacks will be shown through theatrical reconstructions, performance of Cossack music, folk games and master classes.

According to Vitaly Suchkov, head of the Department of National Policy and Interregional Relations of the City of Moscow, it is precisely such events that make it possible to convey the historical truth, making Cossack culture accessible and interesting: "More than 1300 artists and collectives from 45 regions annually take part in the festival. In recent years, it has turned into a large-scale event, which last year alone was attended by more than 80,000 guests and more than 375,000 viewers joined the online broadcast. This year, the event will feature an exhibition dedicated to heroic Cossacks taking part in a special military operation. The Cossacks have been the mainstay of Russian statehood and spirituality for centuries. Today it is especially important to remember and preserve these traditions."

Traditionally, the central event of the festival will be the consecration of the Cossack marching temple, which will be handed over to one of the Cossack societies. The broadcast will be organized on the screens of the main stage, after which a gala concert will begin with the participation of famous artists and creative Cossack groups. An eventful evening with contests and performances by the headliners of the festival awaits the audience.

Among the key events of the festival are demonstration performances of Cossacks in jigging, flanking competitions, as well as saber cutting competitions.Special attention will be paid to the younger generation. For the youngest guests, there will be a children's playground with traditional amusements, master classes and interactive games aimed at getting to know the culture and history of the Cossacks in an easy and exciting way.

At the festival, guests will be able to purchase souvenirs and decorative and applied arts in the Cossack style, take part in workshops on folk crafts and taste traditional dishes of Cossack cuisine. The festival will become a family-friendly place where everyone will find something to do.
