Directors from Yakutia will present their projects at the Cannes film market

Russian directors from Yakutia Stepan Burnashev and Dmitry Davydov arrived in Cannes to present their projects to foreign partners at the film market, which runs in parallel with the film festival. They shared their plans with Izvestia on May 13.

"There are actually a lot of plans. Let's try it on all fronts. I have a finished film, I will offer it to distributors, sales agencies," Burnashev said.

He clarified that he has a new project, "Penthouse," which was shot in Malaysia. According to him, this is an international project for which he will try to find buyers. The director expressed a desire to meet with different producers on ideas for future projects. However, he noted that the main project will be determined depending on the interest of the producers.

Davydov, in turn, shared that he represents a specific master project - the Yakut drama "Lullaby".

"I want to find foreign partners for it in order to conduct this project more competently. Not to make a small Yakut movie, but to somehow work it out more widely. Well, there are also a number, a couple of European projects. They are not attached to Yakutia, to Russia. That is, if there are any good agreements, then this can be lifted, for example, in Europe," he said.

The director clarified that his projects have an English translation. According to him, one of the projects was shot in the genre of post-apocalyptic horror, and the second is a psychological drama about the life of a European film school. According to him, this is a mysterious story about the "kitchen" of film institutes. Davydov stressed that the projects do not depend on location — they can be adapted to France and other European countries.
