The European Parliament (EP) has launched an investigation into the trip of a group of MEPs to Moscow during the celebration of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War (WWII). This was announced on May 13 by Cyprus MP and blogger Fidias Panayiotou.

"I must tell you that our visit to Moscow with other MEPs was completely disliked by the European Parliament, it has already launched an investigation against us," he said in a video on his page on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

On May 8, Der Spiegel magazine announced the intention of five members of the European Parliament to come to the capital to celebrate the Victory. It was noted that the desire was expressed by deputies from the Czech Republic, Cyprus and Slovakia, as well as two German members of the Sarah Wagenknecht Union for Reason and Justice (BSW) faction Ruth Firmenich and Michael von der Schulenburg.

More than 25 foreign leaders, as well as military personnel from Russia-friendly countries and foreign delegations attended the parade on Red Square. At the end of the meeting, Russian President Vladimir Putin thanked the foreign delegations at the reception for coming to the capital of the Russian Federation for the celebrations.
