- Kobakhidze declared the silence of the United States about the reset of relations with Georgia

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, in an open letter to US President Donald Trump and Vice President Jay Dee Vance, expressed his bewilderment at Washington's silence on the reset of relations between the two countries. The text of the letter was published on May 13.
"A few weeks ago, I addressed you with a letter about Georgian-American relations. This letter was preceded by my public statements, where I openly expressed Georgia's readiness to resume the strategic partnership between Georgia and the United States from scratch and with a specific guide. However, we have not yet received a response to our letter and public statements," reads the text posted on Kobakhidze's Facebook page (owned by Meta, which is recognized as extremist and banned in Russia).
He added that communication at the highest level between the authorities of Georgia and the United States still did not take place. The Prime Minister noted that Washington's behavior is surprising for Georgia and its people.
Kobakhidze recalled that Georgia helped the United States in Iraq and Afghanistan and sent the largest contingent there per capita, which, according to the politician, saved Washington $ 2.5 billion.
On November 30, 2024, the US State Department announced the suspension of its strategic partnership with Georgia. The United States expressed regret that Georgia had decided to suspend the issue of joining the European Union.
Later, on December 5, Washington announced its readiness to impose additional sanctions in connection with the protests in Georgia. Anthony Blinken, then Secretary of State, said that the United States "strongly condemns the brutal and unjustified violence of the Georgian Dream party against Georgian citizens."
