Russian President Vladimir Putin has instructed the government, together with the Federal Fund for Social and Economic Support of Russian Cinematography, to direct 20% of the funds allocated for state support of cinema to finance national animated films. The list of instructions from the head of state was published on the Kremlin's website on May 13.
"<...> to develop mechanisms to ensure that 20% of the funds allocated for state support of cinematography are allocated to finance national animated films," the publication says.
In addition, the head of state instructed to develop a mechanism for allocating 10% of funds from the rental of foreign animated films to the Federal Fund for Social and Economic Support of Russian Cinematography in order to further finance Russian animation.
The report on the developed mechanisms has been instructed to be submitted by November 30 this year.
Putin also instructed the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation, together with the Presidential Council for Culture and the Arts, to create a list of the 100 best Russian films to be shown in educational institutions and included in the school curriculum.
On April 14, Russian Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova announced that Andrei Volgin's joint Russian-Chinese film "Red Silk" became the most successful detective story at our box office, collecting almost 700 million rubles.
On December 27, 2024, Lyubimova announced that the volume of the Russian film distribution market exceeded 43 billion rubles, 33 billion of which were provided by films of domestic production. According to her, in comparison with the same period in 2023, the box office increased by 16%, and the fees of Russian cinema increased by 24%.
