Putin has ordered the creation of a theater of modern patriotic drama in Moscow.


Russian President Vladimir Putin has commissioned the creation of a theater in Moscow aimed at promoting modern patriotic drama. The list of instructions from the head of state following the meeting of the Council for Culture and the Arts was published on May 13 on the Kremlin's website.
The Moscow government, together with the Russian Ministry of Culture, the Presidential Council for Culture and the Arts, and the Writers' Union of Russia should create the theater.
"To create a theater based on the cultural organization of the city of Moscow, focused on the promotion of modern drama of a patriotic orientation," the instruction says.
The task should be completed by November 30, 2025. Responsible for the implementation: Mayor of the capital Sergei Sobyanin, Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova and Presidential aide Vladimir Medinsky.
On May 8, analysts at martech company First Data analyzed the demand for goods with patriotic attributes and found that this year Russians purchased 42% more goods online than in the same period last year. In 2025, from April 1 to May 2, Russians spent 246 million rubles online on various goods by May 9. Last year, this amount was 122 million rubles.
In December 2024, Putin declared that the victory over Nazism in 1945 should be promoted as a common value for all mankind. At the same time, he noted that all CIS countries remember and honor the feat of all the peoples of the USSR.
