People's Artist of Russia Olga Shirokova died at the age of 79.

Olga Shirokova, People's Artist of Russia, theater and film actress, died at the age of 80. This was announced on May 13 on the website of the Moscow Theater Center "Cherry Orchard".

"Olga Shirokova was an outstanding actress, a symbol of our theater!" the message says.

The theater noted that among the best roles of the actress were Amanda in "The Glass Menagerie", Edda in "Butterfly Tango", Lydia Gerber in "Old-fashioned Comedy" and others.

Shirokova was a laureate of the Moscow City Hall Award, and since 1995 she has been a leading actress at the Moscow Theater Center Cherry Orchard.
