Putin expressed his condolences over the death of actress Nina Grebeshkova.

Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his condolences over the death of Nina Grebeshkova, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, widow of director Leonid Gaidai. The text of the telegram was published on the Kremlin's website on May 13.

"Nina Pavlovna was a bright, talented and charming person, a wonderful actress who was loved by many generations of viewers," the message says.

Putin noted that she played many striking roles that went down in the history of Russian cinema. The President expressed confidence that the good memory of the actress will remain in the hearts of her relatives and fans of her work.

On May 12, director Nikolai Lebedev called Grebeshkova a friendly and very bright person. He confessed that she was his "mascot", and her passing away was a huge personal loss for him.

Grebeshkova died on May 10 at the age of 95. The actress has about 130 works in film projects, most of all she was remembered by the audience for her supporting roles in the films of her husband, director Leonid Gaidai.
