There is a rule in cyberspace: it is more difficult to deceive a person when he tells less information about himself. On May 13, the Department for the organization of the fight against the illegal use of information and communication technologies (UBK) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia told about this, recalling the key data that should never be shared with anyone, so as not to become a victim of fraud.

"There is a simple rule in cyberspace: the less personal information you disclose, the more difficult it is to deceive you. Even one innocent response can be the beginning of a chain of fraud," the agency's Telegram channel said.

So, no one should share information related to the card, including the number, expiration date, CVC/CVV code, usernames and passwords from online banking, SMS codes, and confirmation push notifications. As part of one of the fraudulent schemes, an attacker may ask you to send an SMS code to confirm the delivery of a registered letter.

You can also not report personal document data. For example, attackers may ask for a passport photo to confirm their identity for delivery. Citizens were also advised not to talk about one-time passwords, push codes, QR codes, private information, that is, about the address of residence, numbers of relatives, travel routes, location in real time.

"Remember: none of the official structures — neither the bank, nor Gosuslugi, nor the police — will ask you for access codes or a passport over the phone or in a chat. Your data is your area of responsibility. Caring for them is the best contribution to the safety of you and your loved ones," the ministry noted.

Earlier, on May 12, the cyber police announced a way to combat false information about themselves posted by search engines. In such cases, citizens of the Russian Federation can use the "right to oblivion."
