The Russian government has reconfirmed the list of animals that are prohibited from being kept at home. This is evidenced on May 13 by a document on the official website of legal acts, signed by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

The new list includes about 121 species of animals, including certain species of snakes, including cobras and pythons, certain species of turtles, predators and big cats, as well as a number of arachnids (karakurts, black widows and others) and some birds.

For example, the list includes seals, walruses, manatees, stingrays, electric eels, hyenas, elephants, crocodiles, flamingos, wolves, cougars, pelicans, bears, rhinos, hippos, porcupines and others.

It is specified that the order will enter into force on September 1 of this year and will be valid for six years.

Earlier, on March 17, it was reported that in Russia they plan to introduce criminal liability for pet owners for death by negligence due to attacks by their pets. According to the new rules, the guilty pet owner is proposed to be punished with restriction of liberty for up to three years, or forced labor for the same period with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities, or imprisonment for the same period of time.
