- Grushko pointed to the intention of the EU countries to prolong the conflict in Ukraine.

France, Great Britain and Germany want the conflict in Ukraine to continue. This was announced on Tuesday, May 13, by Alexander Grushko, Deputy Head of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
"It is obvious that these countries continue their policy of prolonging the conflict," he said in an interview with TASS.
According to the diplomat, if you look at the policies of these states without the "verbal husk", it becomes clear that their main goal is to achieve international isolation of Russia. However, as Grushko pointed out, Berlin, London and Paris have failed in inflicting a strategic defeat on the Russian Federation.
At the same time, the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister added that these countries still expect to achieve their goals.
In addition, Grushko drew attention to the flighty positions of European leaders. As an example, he cited French President Emmanuel Macron, who in an address to the nation stated that the country does not support the fragile truce.
"A truce of 30 days, is it not fragile? Therefore, today they say one thing, tomorrow they will say another," the diplomat noted.
On May 11, Russian President Vladimir Putin issued an initiative to resume direct talks in Istanbul on May 15. On the same day, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky responded with an ultimatum: he demanded a cease-fire from May 12. US President Donald Trump called on the Ukrainian side to accept the Russian proposal immediately, after which the Ukrainian leader announced that he would come to Turkey on May 15 for talks.
