For the first time, the Armed Forces of Taiwan conducted exercises with the firing of multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) HIMARS supplied by the United States. This was reported on Monday, May 12, by the island's Central News Agency.

"The exercises conducted by the 58th Army Artillery Command took place at the Jiupeng base in the village of Manzhou," the publication says.

It is specified that a total of 33 missiles from 11 launchers were fired. The military did not provide any details about how the exercises took place.

Prior to that, on April 5, the Taiwanese authorities reported the approach of 12 aircraft and six ships of the People's Liberation Army of China (PLA) to the island. At the same time, it was clarified that nine aircraft crossed the median line and entered the southwestern and eastern air defense zones of Taiwan.

Earlier, on April 3, it was reported that representatives of the Armed Forces of the United States and China held talks several times in Shanghai and discussed the issue of reducing unsafe actions by Chinese warships and aircraft.
