The crews of the Msta-S self-propelled howitzers of the artillery brigade of the 1st Guards Tank Army of the Zapad group of forces perform daily combat missions to destroy various targets in the area of a special military operation (SVO). The Russian Defense Ministry on Tuesday, May 13, showed footage of howitzers working on mortar crews, armored vehicles and manpower of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).

"My position is interesting. We load the shells, unload them, and weigh them. This is necessary for the correct trajectory of the projectile, so as not to miss for sure. They are often different in weight, we sort them out," said the calculation number of the Msta—S self-propelled howitzer with the call sign Precinct Officer.

The gunners are working on a variety of targets. The elimination of manpower, a command post, and an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) takeoff point can be set as a combat mission.

"We had one goal — the T-72 tank. We fired a couple of shots and knocked out a caterpillar. Then they destroyed this equipment," the police officer recalls.

The footage shows how the Msta-S crew prepares the howitzer for battle, points the gun at the coordinates set in advance and fires a salvo. Fire on the enemy is conducted from a 152-millimeter cannon using a high-explosive shell with an extended range. All identified targets were destroyed. Before leaving the combat position, the Russian military carefully disguise the gun.

"We are working with intelligence. There is reconnaissance that is at the front, and reconnaissance that is in the air — with UAVs, with copters," explained the gunner of the Msta—S self-propelled howitzer with the call sign Wolf.

Earlier, on May 12, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that fighters of the North group of forces had identified the location of the HIMARS multiple launch rocket system (MLRS) of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near the village of Nagornovka in the Sumy region. The target was destroyed by a missile strike from the Iskander-M tactical missile system.
