The US State Department has approved the sale of CH-47F Chinook military transport helicopters and equipment to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for a total of $1.32 billion. This was reported on Monday, May 12, by the Reuters information agency, citing the Pentagon.
"The US State Department has approved the potential sale of CH-47F Chinook helicopters and F-16 components, as well as related equipment to the United Arab Emirates for a total of $1.457 billion," the publication says.
It is specified that the main contractors for the sale of helicopters are Boeing Helicopter Aircraft Company and Honeywell Engine Company. The agency added that none of the contractors is connected with the sale of F-16 fighter jets.
Earlier, on May 2, the Pentagon's Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) reported that the State Department authorized the possible provision of services to Ukraine for the maintenance of F-16 fighter jets worth $310 million.
