All 10 participants of the Russian team won gold medals at the 59th International Mendeleev Olympiad of Schoolchildren in Chemistry. This was announced on May 12 by the press service of the Russian government in its Telegram channel.

"I'm thinking of moving into technological processes, industrial ones. <...>. Perhaps it will be the processing of minerals from the bowels of our rich country. Maybe it will be gold mining. Maybe it will be the extraction of rare earth elements," gold medalist Viktor Demidov shared his development plans in an interview with Izvestia.

The Russian government clarified that this year's international intellectual competition brought together representatives from about 40 countries. Russia was represented by the winners of the All-Russian Olympiad of schoolchildren in chemistry of the current academic year.

Nikita Maslyuk, a gold medalist from Russia, said that he was led to chemistry by chance and a love for interesting tasks that are given at the Olympics.

"In the end, I realized that the Olympics are cool," said the student.

Earlier in the day, the AI Alliance told Izvestia that eight schoolchildren would represent Russia at the International Artificial Intelligence Olympiad in Beijing. The competition will be held on August 2-9.
