Polish presidential candidate promised to prevent Ukraine from joining NATO


Slawomir Mentzen, the Polish presidential candidate from the Confederation of nationalists and Eurosceptics, promised at a debate on Monday, May 12, to prevent Ukraine from joining the North Atlantic Alliance if elected.
"I will not agree to sending Polish troops to Ukraine, I will not agree to Ukraine's admission to NATO," he said.
He also said that Poland does not care where the Russian-Ukrainian border will run or who owns Crimea.
Earlier in the day, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski announced the decision to close the Russian Consulate General in Krakow. It is specified that he decided to withdraw his consent to the work of the consulate in the country.
On October 22, 2024, the Polish Foreign Ministry decided to close the Russian Consulate in Poznan. At the same time, Sikorsky once again accused the Russian special services of trying to organize sabotage in the country and linked his decision to the alleged "hybrid war" being waged by the Russian Federation against the state and its allies.
