Electricity was cut off in some areas of the Libyan capital Tripoli as a result of armed clashes. This was confirmed to Izvestia by a local journalist on Tuesday, May 13.
Al Mayadeen TV channel also reported on May 12, citing local sources, that the Libyan University in Tripoli had suspended work, including the entire educational process at all faculties, in order to ensure security.
On the same day, the Ministry of Defense of the Government of National Unity of Libya announced that the military operation in the capital had been successfully completed.
Armed clashes in Tripoli occurred on May 12 after the assassination of the head of the security service at the Libyan Presidential Council, Abdelghani al-Kikli. The local ambulance service reported six casualties. The Russian embassy in the country clarified that it was not affected by the armed clashes.
