Stand-up comedian Ostanin's arrest was extended in the case of incitement to hatred


Stand-up comedian Artemy Ostanin has had his arrest extended in a hate speech case. This is on Monday, May 12, according to the file of the Courts of general jurisdiction in Moscow.
"The request for an extension of the period of detention has been granted," it says.
On March 19, the Meshchansky District Court of Moscow arrested stand-up comedian Artemy Ostanin for two months on charges of inciting hatred against participants in a special operation.
Earlier, on March 18, Ostanin was detained while trying to leave Russia. According to investigators, on March 15, the stand-up comedian made hostile comments in a public speech about people who were injured and disabled.
After the arrest, the comedian apologized for his words and stated that he had no intention of hurting anyone's feelings.
