- The Ministry of Finance announced the development of relations with China even in the face of external pressure

Russia and China continue to strengthen cooperation, despite the sanctions pressure from third countries. This was announced on April 12 by Dmitry Kiku, Deputy Director of the Department for Control over External Restrictions of the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation, at the Valdai discussion club.
"Relations between Russia and China continue to develop actively, despite external sanctions pressure. They have prospects both within the framework of the SCO and within the framework of BRICS," Kiku is quoted as saying in the Telegram channel of the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation.
He also pointed out that the sanctions imposed against Russia contradict the principles of the World Trade Organization (WTO). The policy of blocking the work of the Appellate Body effectively deprives the organization of the opportunity to resolve trade disputes, violating its key functions.
"To ensure independence, countries need to develop alternative formats of interaction. It is better to work in those organizations that respect international law and generally accepted trade norms," Dmitry Kiku emphasized.
According to him, in response to the restrictive measures, Russia has built a system of legal mechanisms to protect against the actions of unfriendly countries. Since 2014, the country has been using retaliatory measures, including increased import duties on goods from sanctioning countries.
On May 10, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that Xi Jinping's visit to Moscow had been a complete success and had become historically significant in strengthening relations between China and the Russian Federation. In addition, he noted that the level of development of relations between Beijing and Moscow during the meetings demonstrated that "trying to drive a wedge" between the countries is an impossible dream.
Earlier, on May 8, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that relations between Russia and China do not depend on the current global situation. In addition, he noted the stable system of mutual trade and foreign trade operations that are carried out in national currencies, that is, in rubles and yuan.
