Trump called the US-EU trade relations disgusting

US President Donald Trump has said that trade with the European Union (EU) is more disgusting to him than with China. He announced this on May 12 during a speech to reporters at the White House.
"They [the EU] were vile. I see that trading with the European Union is in many ways more disgusting than with China," he stressed.
Trump clarified that the EU was forcing American pharmaceutical companies "to do what they didn't like to do." The President added that European countries also often sued American companies, while resorting to using their own judges.
The President accused the EU of using the money received as a result of these measures by European politicians to provide for their countries.
"We just started with them. They [the EU] will calm down soon <...> They treated us very unfairly," Trump added.
On April 2, Trump announced large-scale measures: base tariffs of 10% are being introduced for all products supplied to the United States. For Europe, this figure has been raised to 20%. In his speech, the president called April 2 the day when Americans will become rich again.
On April 6, the European Union (EU) countries will soon present a united front against Trump's tariffs, likely approving the first set of targeted countermeasures against US imports worth up to $28 billion. On April 7, the European Commission (EC) will propose to EU members a list of American goods subject to additional measures.
