"We can finish the season in the top 3 of the Russian Premier League"

Dynamo Moscow won the derby against Spartak Moscow (2:0) in the match of the 28th round of the Russian Football Championship. This victory was the second in a row after the recent dismissal of the blue and white head coach - instead of Marcel Lichka, Roland Gusev now performs the duties of the team's mentor. With him, Dynamo won 3-1 against the Samara Wings of the Soviets and got the better of the red and white, which allowed them to get closer to the top three - the gap from CSKA, which closes it, is two points two rounds before the finish.
In the Spartak derby, midfielder Danil Glebov, who transferred from Rostov at the end of February, scored his first goal for Dynamo. In an interview with Izvestia, the 25-year-old football player commented on the victory in the derby, talked about the changes in the game after his personal resignation, assessed the chances of winning championship medals and shared his expectations for the upcoming friendly match of the Russian national team against Nigeria in June.
— How did Spartak win?
— We fought from the first to the last minute, tried to play with discipline and not let the opponent show his best qualities. They used their chances themselves and could have scored more. In my opinion, a well-deserved victory.
— Do you have a feeling that you completely outplayed your opponent in this derby?
— I think there was only one team on the field in this match. That's the answer. All the guys at Dynamo played well, scored their goals, and then stood up defensively. We will try to do the same in the remaining matches.
— Was there a special mood for Spartak?
— We have the maximum mood for every match. Moreover, we are currently fighting for medals, and we have a good chance of finishing the championship in third place. To do this, you need to win. And the match with Spartak should have been won. So everyone understood what kind of game it was. Now we have to win the remaining two matches.
— What emotions did you feel from the first goal for Dynamo?
— Of course, the most positive ones. It's great to score a goal in such an important match, both in terms of the tournament and the opponent's integrity. But the main thing is that it helped Dynamo to win. I try to play in a way that benefits the team, so that it achieves victories. It doesn't matter if I scored a goal or just had a good match. But it was still nice to distinguish myself.
— When you played for Rostov, for several years in a row there was active talk about Spartak's interest in you, which did not particularly refute them. Do you think they're regretting now that they didn't put the squeeze on your transfer story?
— They probably don't regret it (smiles). Honestly, I don't know. I didn't even think about it until you asked. Somehow I've already forgotten the days when they talked about it, and journalists were constantly asking me about Spartak. But what's to regret now? I'm at Dynamo, and I'm doing everything I can to succeed with the team.
— What has changed in the Dynamo game and the atmosphere in the locker room after Lichka's resignation?
— In terms of the atmosphere in the locker room, I can't say that anything has changed. And the game plan has a little more tactics and theory in preparation for the matches. There are more team actions. But there probably aren't any big changes. In principle, Roland Alexandrovich (Gusev) did not have time to change anything globally. After all, less than two weeks have passed since the change of the head coach. It's hard to rebuild anything in that time. But it's good that the small changes that have taken place have led to two victories.
— How did you react to the resignation of the Personal account?
— Of course, it's a shame when you can't achieve results and this leads to the resignation of the coach. But this is part of football — it's not the first time this has happened. When I played at Rostov, Valery Georgievich Karpin left us, although he worked there for a very long time. And no one is immune from this. So now we need to move on and try to finish the season well by winning two more games, against Akron and Krasnodar.
— Are the chances of winning a bronze medal high?
— I think we can finish the season in the top 3. It is clear that not everything depends on us, as we are two points behind CSKA. But, I repeat, we need to do what we can — win the last two matches. And then we'll see where it takes us.
— A year ago, you and Rostov indirectly participated in the championship race in the last round of the championship, when you almost deprived Zenit of gold, but lost to it at the end of the match (1:2), although Krasnodar would have finished first in the event of a draw. Now you are going to Krasnodar with Dynamo in the last round and you can deprive them of the championship, clearing the way for Zenit to gold. How does the situation look from the inside, when the fate of the first place depends on you in this way?
— I repeat, this is more for you, the journalists, such matches are special. And for us, every game is important and the three points in it are important. It doesn't matter where we're going, to Samara, Krasnodar or some other city, the only thought is how to win there.
— The Russian national team will play a friendly match with Nigeria in early June. What are the expectations of this game?
— I still need to get into the national team (smiles). But in general, Nigeria is a serious opponent, a very high—level team. It's nice to play with them. Therefore, the game should be interesting.
