The Moscow City Court has sentenced members of the Taganskaya organized criminal group (OCG), who were convicted of committing murders, kidnappings and other crimes. This was reported on May 12 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the courtroom.

It is reported that the leader of the organized criminal group, Igor Zhirnokleev, was sentenced to 25 years in a penal colony. He will serve 12 years in a high-security penal colony. In addition, he must pay a fine of four million rubles.

It is clarified that other members of the group were also sentenced. Among them: Oleg Rusanov, Boris Tretyak, Dmitry Yukhnevich, Igor Balashov, German Grishin, Gennady Lukyanov, Sergey Shcherbakov, Sergey Shchukarev, Marat Yanbukhtin. They were sentenced to 22 to 25 years in prison.

The defendants were found guilty of creating and participating in an armed gang and criminal community, murder, kidnapping, theft, robbery, extortion and illegal arms trafficking. Each conviction took into account the role of criminals in the organized crime group.

In addition, the criminal case against Grigory Rubinovich, who died a year ago as a member of an organized crime group, was terminated on all counts, and his property was confiscated.

The court recovered more than 44 million rubles from convicted members of the Taganskaya organized crime group. It is specified that the claims of the six victims have been partially satisfied.

In addition, on May 12, the FSB's Public Relations Center reported the discovery and seizure of more than 100 weapons and explosives from the Taganskaya organized crime group's cache, including 35 Kalashnikov assault rifles of various modifications, 27 pistols of foreign and Russian brands, nine revolvers, eight rifles with optics and silencers, eight submachine guns. and more than 15 thousand cartridges of different calibers.

The criminal case against 11 defendants was submitted to the Moscow City Court in 2021 for consideration on the merits. Grigory Rabinovich, the leader of the Taganskaya organized crime group, who was detained in 2019, died in a pre-trial detention center in Moscow on June 26, 2024. According to the Izvestia source, the cause of death of the defendant, known in criminal circles as Grisha Tagansky, could have been a heart attack. The man died at night in the "Matrosskaya Tishina", before he lived to see the trial.
