At the end of May, the planned hot water shutdown period begins in Moscow. This procedure is necessary for carrying out preventive maintenance and preparation for the new heating season. Read the Izvestia article about when hot water will be lost in the houses of the capital and where to find out the shutdown schedule at the address.

When and to what extent will hot water be turned off in Moscow in 2025

As a rule, the hot water shutdown period lasts from the end of May to the end of August. You can find out the exact dates for a specific area of the capital using special services.

The duration of the planned shutdown of hot water can not exceed 10 days — this time is enough to carry out the necessary preventive maintenance in the water supply system.

In new houses equipped with an alternative pipeline system, hot water can be turned off for a minimum period of time every few years, since an additional pipe system allows hot water to be supplied to apartments while the main one is undergoing preventive maintenance. However, even in such homes, periodic shutdowns are also necessary, as the alternative pipeline also needs to be diagnosed and repaired.

Where can I find out the schedule for turning off hot water in Moscow in 2025

Today, several digital services are available to Muscovites at once, allowing them to find out the timing of hot water shutdowns in their area. For example, on the city portal mos.ru it is enough to enter the address of the house in a special line to get all the necessary information about the planned shutdown. The same function is available on the main page of the website of the Moscow United Energy Company (PJSC "MOEK"). At the same time, you can subscribe to the notification newsletter on the city portal, and a message about the imminent shutdown of hot water will appear in the user's personal account.

The shutdown schedule is also available in the My Moscow mobile application. It also allows you to add maintenance dates to your phone's calendar.

For those who cannot use digital services for one reason or another, there are hotlines of the unified information service of Moscow (+7 (495) 777-77-77) and the unified dispatch center (+7 (495) 539-53-53). You can also check the shutdown dates on the hotline for recording readings of individual water meters (+7 (495) 539-25-25).

What should I do if the planned shutdown is over and there is no hot water?

Sometimes the condition of the pipeline requires a longer intervention by specialists. In this case, according to the law, the shutdown can be extended up to 14 days, but no more. If the scheduled shutdown and backup period have already ended, but the hot water has not appeared, this is a reason to contact the emergency services or the management company with a complaint.

According to the established standards, with the exception of the 10-day period of scheduled maintenance work, hot water can be turned off for no more than eight hours during the month and four hours at a time. In the event of an accident on a dead-end highway, the shutdown period can be up to 24 hours.

If the water supply has not been restored after this time, Muscovites can contact their management company, the unified dispatch center of the capital or the electronic reception of the Moscow Housing Inspectorate.

It is important to take into account that the sanitary temperature norm for hot water is 60-75 degrees. If water of a lower temperature flows from the "red" valve, it is considered cold by law. In this case, the residents of the house have the right to demand troubleshooting and recalculation of utility bills from the management company.

Why do they turn off the hot water?

The annual shutdown of hot water is not a whim of the utilities, but a necessity. Urban communications need regular monitoring and repair. This allows you to quickly prepare for the new heating season, avoid pipe breaks and other accidents.

Earlier, Olga Ulankina, an expert doctor at the Hemotest Laboratory, told Izvestia about the benefits and harms of a cold shower during the hot water shutdown.
