Ballerina Alla Osipenko died at the age of 93.

One of the last students of choreographer Agrippina Vaganova, People's Artist of the RSFSR Alla Osipenko died at the age of 92. This was announced on May 12 by the press service of the Mikhailovsky Theater in the Telegram channel.

"Today, at the age of 93, the legend of world ballet, Alla Evgenievna Osipenko, passed away, whose name became a symbol of grace, beauty and uncompromising service to art," the theater's channel said in a statement.

It is specified that the time and place of farewell to Alla Osipenko will be announced later.

According to the press service of the theater, she was the standard of artistry and tragic expressiveness in every role, a source of inspiration and a true embodiment of the St. Petersburg ballet school.

"Today, her legacy continues to live on in the students and the audience, who remember Alla Osipenko's radiant smile and fiery temperament," the theater added.

Alla Osipenko was born in Leningrad in 1932. On June 21, 1941, on the eve of the outbreak of the Great Patriotic War, she was enrolled in the Leningrad Choreographic College. Osipenko joined the Mariinsky Theatre Company in 1950.

The ballerina served in the theater for 20 years, performing the roles of Odette and Odile in Swan Lake, the Lilac Fairy in Sleeping Beauty, Raymonda in the production of the same name, Mehmeneh Banu from The Legend of Love and the incomparable Mistress of the Copper Mountain.
