Japanese automaker Nissan Motor will cut an additional 10,000 jobs at home and abroad amid deteriorating business performance. This was reported on May 12 by the Japanese public broadcaster NHK.

Combined with previous measures, this will lead to a reduction of approximately 20,000 employees, which is 15% of the total number of employees of the company.

"Nissan Motor, whose performance continues to deteriorate, has decided to further reduce more than 10,000 employees in Japan and abroad," the material says.

According to NHK, shares of automakers around the world fell sharply after US President Donald Trump announced plans to impose duties on all foreign-made vehicles and auto parts imported into the United States.

Earlier, on April 4, Reuters reported that Nissan Motor had temporarily refused orders for two Infiniti SUV models manufactured in Mexico for the American market. This decision was made due to the import duties imposed in the United States. It was reported that instead, the company decided to continue production of the Rogue SUV at the Tennessee plant in two shifts.
