Hutsul pointed out that there were no reasons to extend her house arrest.

The head of Gagauzia, Evgenia Gutsul, told reporters on May 12 that she saw no reason to extend her house arrest.
"My lawyers have provided all the evidence once again that there are no motives or reasons to extend the 30 days of house arrest," she said.
According to her, the judge asked the prosecutor about the stage of the Hutsul criminal case, but the representative of the state prosecution could not give an answer. The head of Gagauzia noted that the criminal prosecution officers also do not know how the investigation is going.
"This case is purely political in nature. And this is done so that I cannot work and fulfill my direct obligations as the head of the Gagauz autonomy," Hutsul stressed.
She added that regardless of the court's decision, she would follow the law and comply with all regulations.
Lawyer Sergei Moraru told Izvestia on May 8 that the Chisinau court could leave Hutsul under house arrest in order to appoint another head of Gagauzia, appealing to the fact that the politician had spent "60 days without fulfilling her work duties." According to the lawyer, there are currently no grounds for extending house arrest.
On March 25, Hutsul was detained at the Chisinau airport. Her name was found on the list of persons who are prohibited from leaving the country. Later, on March 28, the head of Gagauzia was arrested for 20 days, and on April 9, the court replaced her preventive measure with house arrest.
