A one-and-a-half-year-old child died in Makhachkala as a result of a fall from a fifth-floor window. This was reported on May 12 in the press service of the investigative department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the republic.

"According to preliminary data, on May 12, a one—and-a-half-year-old child fell out of an apartment on the fifth floor of a residential building on Peter Avenue in Makhachkala, who died of his injuries upon arrival at a medical facility," the ministry said in a statement.

It is specified that the investigative department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Republic of Dagestan has organized an inspection aimed at clarifying the causes and circumstances of the incident.

"Investigators from the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Republic of Dagestan went to the scene of the incident. A procedural decision will be made based on the results of the audit," the department added.

Earlier, on May 3, in Barnaul, a five-year-old girl fell from a balcony on the fifth floor. At the time of the incident, the child was at home alone.
