Ten people were rescued from forest fires in Transbaikalia


Ten people were rescued from the village of Zabaikalets and the Malinovka dacha cooperative, which were threatened by fires in the Trans-Baikal Territory. This was reported on May 12 in the Main Directorate (GU) of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations in the region.
"22 rural cooperatives, nine settlements and four economic facilities, including two children's camps, are protected from fire. Ten people were rescued from fires in the village of Zabaikalets and Malinovka village," the department's Telegram channel says.
921 employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and 201 pieces of equipment participated in extinguishing fires and protecting settlements. The total number of people from structures and departments, as well as volunteers, was over four thousand people. Aviation was also used to eliminate fires, which dumped 452 tons of water in three days.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations noted the role of volunteers who helped rescuers put out fires, brought food and water for them, and also participated in the creation of fire breaks.
On May 11, Roscosmos published a satellite image of fires in Transbaikalia. The image shows areas of active gorenje, as well as extensive areas of burning near Chita. In addition, smoke plumes and cloud formations caused by fires are clearly visible in the image.
On the same day, the head of the third fire and rescue squad of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in the Trans-Baikal Territory, Yuri Malyukov, told Izvestia that a forest fire with an area of 1 thousand hectares was operating near the Smolenskoye rural settlement in the Chita district of the Trans-Baikal Territory.
