Hyacinth-B crews destroyed a D-30 howitzer and AFU hangars in the special operation area

Crews of 152-mm towed Hyacinth-B howitzers of the 25th Combined arms army of the Zapad group of forces destroyed a D-30 howitzer with ammunition, hangars, pickups and personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the area of the special military operation (SVO) during firing missions. This was announced on May 12 by the Russian Defense Ministry.

"We are working on the Hyacinth cannon. A long-range gun. <...> Today we destroyed a D-30, a howitzer cannon, a crew of four militants and plus a BC," said the commander of the gun with the call sign Baron.

According to him, the gunners are working smoothly and quickly. As soon as a shot is fired, the soldiers immediately load a new shell. He clarified that the calculation under his command destroys various targets, the largest for them was the hangar of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The positions of the Ukrainian militants were located at a distance of 15 km. Thanks to the accurate work of the gunners, it was possible to hit all the targets. The Ukrainian militants' ammunition was also destroyed as a result of the fire.

After the scouts confirmed the destruction of the targets, the crews disguised the gun and took refuge in an underground shelter.

The ministry noted that the gunners work daily and perform combat missions in any weather. After receiving information about the target, military personnel prepare and aim the gun in a matter of minutes, after which they fire a salvo. In addition, the calculations help the Russian infantry, clearing the roads in front of them from the enemy.

On May 7, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that crews of 2S5 Hyacinth-S self-propelled guns of the 5th Guards Combined Arms Army of the Vostok group of forces destroyed fortified areas and command posts of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Yuzhnodonets direction of the special operation.
