A magnitude 5.9 earthquake struck off the coast of Vanuatu

An earthquake of magnitude 5.9 occurred off the coast of Vanuatu in the Pacific Ocean. This was announced on May 11 on the website of the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC).

It is noted that the epicenter of the earthquake was located 5 km northwest of the capital Port Vila with a population of about 35.9 thousand people. The source was located at a depth of about 60 km.

An earthquake of magnitude 4.7 occurred off the coast of Ecuador on May 10. According to EMSC, the epicenter of the earthquake was located 43 km southeast of the city of Guayaquil, which is home to more than 1.9 million people. The source was located at a depth of 10 km.
