- A monument to cadets of the Lepel and Cherepovets schools was unveiled in Cherepovets.
On Sunday, May 11, a monument to cadets of the Lepel Infantry and Cherepovets military schools was unveiled in Cherepovets.
The monument is a sculptural group of three figures of fighters, who laid wreaths and red carnations on them. A delegation from Belarus took part in the opening ceremony of the monument.
The Lepel Infantry School was relocated to Cherepovets from Belarus just before the Great Patriotic War (WWII). Almost all graduates from 1940-1941 died on the battlefields. Later, the school was renamed the Cherepovets Military School.
On the same day, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that soldiers of the 27th separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 1st Guards Tank Army of the Zapad group of forces had restored the monument to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War in the village of Bulavinovka in the Luhansk People's Republic (LNR).
