Children's novelist and poet Evgeny Klyuev has died.
Poet, novelist, journalist and playwright Evgeny Klyuev died on May 9. This was announced on the website of the Moscow Theater of the Young Spectator (MTUZ) on May 11.
"On May 9, the storyteller and poet Evgeny Klyuev died," the publication says.
The theater added that on May 11, its troupe will play the play "The Waltz of a Simple Pencil" based on the work of Klyuev.
The poet was born on January 3, 1954 in the city of Kalinin (modern name — Tver). In 1992-1993, Klyuev headed the editorial office of the newspaper Mission. In addition, he served as Dean of the Faculty of Journalism at the University of the Russian Academy of Education for three years.
In 1996, Klyuyev moved to Denmark, where he worked as a teacher of the Danish language at the Linguistic Center. Being far from home, he continued to create artistic, scientific works and journalism.
The writer became a laureate of the Russian Prize in 2012. In addition, his works are included in school curricula, and theatrical productions are shown on stages around the world.
