The scammers started creating fake group chats, giving them the appearance of being official in order to mislead people. This was announced on May 11 by the Department for the Organization of the fight against the illegal use of information and communication technologies (UBK) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

According to the agency, the attackers pose as employers and add people to chat rooms, where "colleagues" share their experiences and claim that they have already gone through the procedures to which the scammers need to persuade the user. In fact, there may not be any real people in the chat.

Attackers use this method to obtain authorization codes from state portals or to fake employment.

"How to recognize a fake chat? You won't recognize any of the participants; all the messages look staged and too consistent; there aren't many participants, but everyone allegedly "successfully completed" the necessary operation," the Telegram channel says.

On the same day, Alla Khrapunova, curator of the Moshelovka platform of the Popular Front, said that it could be dangerous to have conversations with scammers, even in a joking way, since attackers collect any information they receive to deceive. She urged citizens to quickly end conversations so as not to fall for the tricks of scammers.
