Pianist Yuri Sleserev has died.
Yuri Slesarev, People's Artist of Russia, professor at the Moscow Conservatory, has died. This was announced on May 10 in the press service of the Central Music School - Academy of Performing Arts.
"The Central Music School — Academy of Performing Arts is saddened to announce the death on May 10, 2025 of Yuri Stepanovich Slesarev, an outstanding musician, People's Artist of Russia, professor at the Moscow Conservatory, vice President of the Association of Tchaikovsky Competition Laureates," the Telegram channel says.
Yuri Slesarev was born on August 22, 1947 in the city of Yevpatoria. In 1971, he graduated from the Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory. The musician became a diploma winner of the Leeds International Piano Competition in the UK in 1969 and the IV Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky International Competition a year later.
In addition, Slesarev won the All-Union Piano Competition in Tallinn and the International Competition in Montevideo, Uruguay. In addition, he performed not only in major cities of Russia, but also in countries near and far abroad.
