Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the country is ready to contribute to achieving a peaceful settlement in Ukraine, including holding negotiations on its territory. This was reported on May 11 by CNN Turk.

"Turkey is ready to make any contribution, including organizing negotiations, to ensure a ceasefire and lasting peace," Erdogan said in a statement.

The Turkish leader stressed the importance of cooperation in the negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. Erdogan said that a "historic turning point" had been reached in the peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian conflict.

On May 11, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced at a press conference that Russia was offering Ukraine to resume direct talks in Istanbul on May 15. At the same time, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said that the Kremlin would announce who would participate in the Istanbul talks.

Putin also said that he would have a conversation with Erdogan on Sunday. The Russian leader noted that he wants to appeal to Turkey with a request to provide an opportunity for negotiations on the territory of the country.
