Belousov and LNA commander Haftar discussed the situation in Libya

Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov held a meeting with the commander of the Libyan National Army (LNA) Khalifa Haftar to discuss the current situation in Libya. This was announced on May 11 by the Russian Defense Ministry.

"During the talks, topical issues of bilateral cooperation in the field of defense, as well as the general situation in Libya, were discussed," the statement said.

The parties confirmed their readiness to develop cooperation between the military departments of the two countries to ensure security and stability in the Middle East region.

On May 10, it was reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin met with LNA Commander-in-Chief Haftar in the Kremlin.

Before that, on May 8, the Secretary of the Russian Security Council, Sergei Shoigu, met with the head of the LNA, Haftar, in Moscow. During the conversation, issues related to the security situation in Libya, as well as in North Africa and the Sahara-Sahel region were discussed.
