The area of forest fires in Buryatia increased to 44 thousand hectares

The area of forest fires in the Republic of Buryatia has increased to 44 thousand hectares over the past day and continues to grow. This was reported on May 11 in the press service of the Republican forestry Agency.

"On the morning of May 11, 22 forest fires are active: in the Bauntovsky, Bichursky, Yeravninsky and Zakamensky districts on a total area of 44,933 hectares," the press service said.

It is specified that specialists managed to eliminate four fires in the Bauntovsky and Yeravninsky districts. Their area was more than 4 thousand hectares. According to preliminary information, the cause of these fires was careless handling of fire. In addition, two fires in the Yeravninsky and Bichurinsky districts were localized.

In total, 679 specialists and 132 pieces of equipment are involved in extinguishing the fire.

A state of emergency has been introduced in three regions.

On May 9, the Forestry Agency of Buryatia reported that the area of forest fires in the republic increased to 24.7 thousand hectares per day. It was clarified that 18 fires were recorded in the Bauntovsky and Yeravninsky districts.
