Soldiers of the 27th separate motorized Rifle Brigade of the 1st Guards Tank Army of the Zapad group of forces restored the monument to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War (WWII) in the village of Bulavinovka in the Luhansk People's Republic (LNR). This was announced on May 11 by the Russian Defense Ministry.

"We have approached thoroughly (to carry out the work. — Ed.). The almost destroyed monument was erected, decorated and restored to a decent condition. Initially, the monument presented a sad sight: the base and the monument itself were destroyed, there were not enough particles in it. Now he has begun to play with a new life," said a soldier with the call sign Zarya.

He also noted that their team has been engaged in the restoration of memorials for several years. The grand opening of the monument was accompanied by a performance by the vocal group "Babkin's Grandchildren", poetry readings and wartime songs by children. A minute of silence was observed in memory of the fallen WWII soldiers.

A soldier of the Russian Armed Forces, congratulating Russians on Victory Day, noted that this great holiday allows everyone to feel belonging to the Fatherland.

On May 10, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation announced that military personnel of the 49th Territorial Military Automobile Inspection (VAI) of the Zapad group of forces had carried out the St. George Ribbon patriotic action. The servicemen presented St. George's ribbons as a sign of remembrance of the feat accomplished by their ancestors and as a symbol of the continuity of generations.
