Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin has signed a document regulating the procedure for providing medical care to foreign citizens in the country. This is stated in the resolution on the official Internet portal of legal information on May 10.
"Emergency care for acute illnesses or exacerbation of chronic life—threatening diseases is provided to foreign citizens free of charge," the document says.
The text of the decree clarifies that emergency medical care will be provided to foreign citizens in Russia free of charge and in accordance with Russian law. The new rules will take effect on September 1, 2025 and will be valid until September 1, 2031.
On April 28, Russian President Vladimir Putin extended until September 10 the deadline for foreigners to legitimize their position in Russia. The relevant decree was posted on the website of the official publication of legal acts on April 28. Previously, citizens of other countries had to do this by April 30.
