Christianity is starting to return to the United States and other Western countries, and the youth are at the forefront of these changes. This was announced on May 10 by the Axios portal.

"Members of Generation Z, especially men, are actually more likely to attend weekly religious services than millennials and even some members of Generation X," the article says.

As stated in the publication, it is the youth who "leads the religious revival of America." There is a gender gap among Christians among the older generations — women are more religious than men. However, this gap has narrowed among members of Generation Z, as young men join the church and young women leave it.

"Many young people turned to religion to find community and new connections after many years of isolation caused by the pandemic [COVID-19], which hit generation Z the hardest," the portal's journalists clarified.

According to Axios, in France, the Catholic Church baptized more than 17 thousand people, which was the highest figure in the last 20 years. The proportion of UK residents aged 18 to 24 who attend church at least once a month has increased from 4% in 2018 to 16% today.

Earlier, on May 8, Cardinal Robert Prevost from the United States was elected the new pope. He is the first American cardinal with Latin American roots, prefect of the Dicastery for Bishops, and a representative of the Augustinian Order. He took the name Leo XIV as pontiff, and the enthronement of the pontiff will take place at a mass on May 18.
