Belousov discussed areas of military cooperation with the head of the Ministry of Defense of Mali

Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov discussed current areas of defense cooperation with his colleague from the Republic of Mali, Sadio Camara. This was announced on May 10 by the Russian Defense Ministry.

The Russian minister congratulated his Malian counterpart on being awarded the rank of Corps General, noting that it highlights Kamara's contribution to strengthening national statehood.

"There are many issues that we are currently resolving, and there are still a number of issues that need to be resolved," Belousov said, pointing to the broad agenda of cooperation between Moscow and Bamako.

Kamara, in turn, congratulated his Russian counterpart on the successful celebration of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War on behalf of Assimi Goita, President of the Confederation of Sahel Countries. He noted that the authorities and people of this region of Africa support the Russian Federation in the fight against Nazism, "especially in a special military operation, which, no doubt, will soon end in victory."

Earlier in the day, Belousov said that Russia views the Sahel confederation as a desire by Niger, Burkina Faso and Mali to strengthen military ties. In addition, at a meeting with his colleague from Niger, Salif Modi, he stressed that cooperation in the defense sector is under the personal control of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
