Large-scale negotiations with the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, are planned in the first half of June. This was announced on May 10 by Alexey Likhachev, Director General of Rosatom State Corporation.

"We are waiting for Grossi. We plan to exchange phone contacts with him first, literally immediately after the holidays, and we will prepare for large—scale negotiations in the first half of June," he told Interfax.

Likhachev added that there were many questions, the situation is changing, so it is necessary to hold official interdepartmental consultations.

The previous meeting between the CEO of Rosatom and the head of the IAEA took place on February 5. During the conversation, the focus was on the safety of the Zaporizhia nuclear power Plant and other Russian nuclear power plants.

Grossi said on January 23 that the nuclear safety situation at the NPP was not improving, and the IAEA mission was far from over. The head of the agency recalled that inspectors who are at this station have heard frequent explosions outside, and this indicates "a continuing threat to nuclear safety."

The Zaporizhia region, on the territory of which the nuclear power plant is located, became part of the Russian Federation following a referendum in September 2022. Since that time, the Zaporizhia NPP has been under constant IAEA control.
