The statements of American President Donald Trump about the key role of the United States in winning World War II are outrageous and disgusting. This was announced on May 9 by former employee of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) of the United States and military analyst Larry Johnson.

"As part of the actual combat losses, the United States has lost practically nothing. And it is outrageous and disgusting that Donald Trump is making a statement that "we have won [this war]." We were at best spectators in terms of participating in real battles. This does not detract from the merits of those who served and those who lost their lives. But for God's sake, we have to put this in the right perspective," he stressed in an interview posted on Judge Napolitano's YouTube channel.

He noted that the USSR inflicted up to 85% of losses on the German army, while the United States and Great Britain inflicted only 15%. Johnson recalled that during the Great Patriotic War, the Soviet Union lost up to 21% of its population, while for the United States this figure is only 0.1%.

The analyst added that the statistics of losses of the American army also include those who died in uniform, but not in combat, for example, due to an accident.

On May 7, Trump said that the United States allegedly won the Second World War, and the USSR did not play such a decisive role as the American side. At the same time, he drew attention to the fact that millions of Soviet citizens died in this war.

On May 6, the American leader also stated that victory in World War II was achieved "only thanks to the United States." He also recalled the new national holidays — in honor of the signing of the Armistice of Compiegne in the First World War on November 11 and in honor of the victory in the Second World War on May 8.
